Mikey:

I think that LMDS means Local Multipoint Distribution Service. It is a technology that in no real way threatens the Q. At the frequency that they operate at the have some pretty bad interference from rain. Thus it makes their signal none too good for cell phones. The major use for this technology as I remember it (correct me someone) is for the wireless distribution of cable in new developments. Somewhere on the east coast (of the US) they set up a new development that had a big antenna in the middle and everyone had a dish on their house. They thought it would be cheaper to distribute cable. I have no idea of the results.
