Rex, when you wrote "If SanDisk can't get royalties from Lexar then we're in trouble", you should have said "BIG trouble".

"FREMONT, CA, February 2, 1998-Lexar Media Inc. announced today a system breakthrough on flash memory controller technology that allows dramatic improvements on write performance, far surpassing previously believed limitations to flash memory. Lexar Media today can demonstrate 1.6MB sustained write performance on block-style (NAND and AND) flash technology, doubling the performance of the fastest flash memory currently available and over 10 times faster than high density, multi-bit flash technology."

Lexar's older technology was NAND-based but their new products are stated to support AND memory. With a superior interface and Kodak's recent blessing, Lexar could sweep the entire market. Since SNDK probably can't claim a royalty from the chipmaker on AND memory and Lexar isn't caughing up cash, EVERYTHING seems to be riding on the lawsuit.

Perhaps the best strategy is to abandon the stock and buy both puts and calls. Whichever way the lawsuit turns, one of the options is sure to be a winner. What do you think?
