As I recall, 2100 was either low Master or high Expert. A strong player, not many of those about.

It was too demanding for me....In High School I was one of the 5 best in the state. 4 of us ended up at the same college. We went to their chess club....thinking "here, we are going to get some real competition!"....we wiped the floor with them. That was it for me....never played serious matches ever since.

In the years to follow, my chess was limited to playing for beers in the local pubs. Since then, perhaps once or twice a year....with the occasional match here on SI.

EDIT. I just remembered a 5th kid who ended up at that college......he was a sophomore at my High School when I was a Senior. This kid carried about a 2150 or so. He was real good, but an incredible nerd. We actually recruited him into the High School after I played him in a match at the Marshall Chees Club in Manhattan.
