I disagree with what you say about "what is going on in the market place". The market place is a BIG place. It's a heck of a lot bigger than a particular retail store that markets and probably pushes low end systems because they are cheap, they can run basic software and they can surf the net. Intel has converted most of its fab facilities to Pentium II generation processors. Intel sells 85% of the world's microprocessors. How can you even imply that anything but a ton of PII's are being sold? Corporate is where substantial sales activity occurs, and most large retailers sell only PII systems (or the occasional AMD based system).
