Pravin,

I'm not sure how much weight processor promises will carry at this point.

The more things change, the more they remain the same. The great things are always 2-3 quarters away, and they are never there when you get there.

At least now, NSM/Cyrix is in charge of their destiny with their fab, yield and speed distribution. They didn't say anything about the speed distribution and if MII at .25u will run on 100 MHz FSB. I guess we can assume that the speed distribution is at least 233 MHz and up, as they mentioned last quarter.

I think the 67% yield info is just something to cheer up the investors. It remains to be seen if the yields remain at 67% and up. The speed distribution is very important as well. If half of good dice are only 233 MHz, it's as if the yield was only 33%. It will be harder and harder to make money on 233 MHz CPU (PR-333?) in August and beyond.

I was a little bothered by a remark that indicated that MXi may not ship in volume until Calendar Q2.

I noticed it as well. MXi is the most important product in my opinion. Probably even more important than PC on a chip (since the first version is supposed to still be based on MediaGx core).

Since there appears to be no Cayenne based Socket 7 or Slot 1 chip on the horizon, the Cayenne core may already be sitting on a shelf waiting for all the other integrated pieces to be put in place. I don't think NSM can afford this. Every day of delay of Cayenne is equaled to $$ put into development disappearing in from of our eyes. If Cayenne was a product now, Cyrix could make money selling it. In calendar Q2, it will only be able to make money as a part of integrated chip (or at speed of 400 MHz).
