I'm using Netscape 4.05. No, I can't use Gritch; I downloaded
the Sun Java 1.1 but haven't had the guts to install it yet
due to the dire warnings on the Sun website vis a vis NS 4.05.
Someday maybe I'll have time to fool with that.

When I open two Netscape windows I get two separate
applications in task manager. I don't know that I've
ever checked this before.

Having said the above, I looked further, and in fact
although there are two Applications listed in Task
Manager, there is only one Netscape process. It looks
to me that NS is opening more than one main window
from a single process, which would explain what you
are seeing. Of course some apps do insist on running
only a single instance -- Word for example -- but they
generally add more child windows to an existing main
window. It looks like Netscape just adds more main
applicaiton windows. This also tells me the Task
Manager is showing main windows on the Apps screen
without regard to processes.

I suspect, but cannot prove, that NS contributes significantly
to my periodic blue screens. There are certain suspicious
apps that I always have running -- Netscape, Eudora Pro, and
MS Access being the prime suspects. HOWEVER, my incidence
of blue screens has gone way down since I put up NS 4.05
over 4.04 two or three weeks ago. Not conclusive, but
when you find a fish in the milk can, it's a good bet
somebody's watered down the milk. Some circumstantial
evidence is pretty strong ...

It's quite possible we were both seeing the same thing
but showing up in different ways.
