Hi Guys

Just thought I'd put my 2 cents in with regards to analysts strong buy recomendations.

It has been my experience that analyst strong buy recommendations are more often than not a contrary indicator, especially if the strong buy remains after substantial price increase of the shares. It would be interesting to get a third party completely unbiased analyst opinion. (i.e. does not work for an underwriting brokerage house.)

For example, it took a long time for most analysts to start lowering their ratings on Newbridge last year, and same thing happened with Loewen, and I think Jetform had a glowing analyst repoort a week or so before its price crashed. Infact Investors Digest had at least 1 strong buy recommendation on Com Dev in the April 24 issue. At the same time, Seagrams has done GREAT and I recall some analysts changing their recommendation to buy only recently, after the price run up.

I tend to put much more faith in what insiders are doing, and the technical performance of a stock. For example, both these indicators gave ample warnings about Bre-X long before its final drop to $3.

Anyhow, just me 2 cents
