Does the truth hurt, even if it is only a letter to the editor?
The Mail & Guardian is one the few papers that gives the equal opportunity right to reply unlike most papers quoted on this thread. So it is no wonder that the two other interested parties chose to reply, forget about all these conspiracy theories!
Has it ever occurred to you that maybe the heirs would rather deal with De Beers not only because of the reputation of the company, but also as a result of the shoddy treatment accorded them by SUF?
IMHO they would rather wait a little longer while DB do their DD.I am sure that time constraints must have been included in their agreement, so the heirs will not wait forever as indicated by a lot of postings.I am sure that SUF would also do DD if they were paying out R75M.
As long as the Section 24 is pending, and the Minister has indicated his wish for a negotiated settlement, then all the interested parties will carry on negotiating. No mystery there either. The only thing that DB can lose in these protracted negotiations is time and possibly patience.

P.S.I wonder what diamonds would be worth if De Beers just adopted SUF's approach and marketed them all immediately?
