once there was a happy girl
in the life of penny lane's
laughing carefree social whirl
known to all of us as jane

she was winning, she was cool
she was hanging at the beach
she made all the boys drool
there was nothing out of reach

but then one day misfortune struck
in other words, her stocks went sour
and overwhelmed by ugly luck
the pretty girl turned dark and dour

and then she lashed at strangers' posts
as if she owned the SI name
and stomped upon the petty ghosts
of her former drag queen fame.

for here's the kicker, one and all,
a lesson fate would have her teach:
our darling of the threadster's ball
was just some guy in pismo beach!
