Joe,

Since there appears to be no Cayenne based Socket 7 or Slot 1 chip on the horizon, the

Listen carefully to the CC. The "core" is ready. Slot 1 will come for a team up with a "partner". The folks in Taiwan seem to be thinking slot 1 will be a pratnership with Acer. But Halls mentioned meeting with "Several" potential partners (several is 5+ in the official definition in the dictionary, a few being 3-4 and a couple being obviously 2).

In short NSM won't actually sell any Slot 1 product or any stand alone processor beyond the MII. They will license the core rights out for a hefty fee and reap royalties. (a good play in my opinion, sicne some else eats the fab costs and you get revenue for "nothing").
