Ben I'm interested in more ideas on shorts, especially with the market at all-time highs. I've been watching AOL. I think it could be run up another 6 - 8 points from here just on dumb momentum. The baby bells are starting to provide internet service. I don't think AOL has ever really made a profit. They've recently been written up in the WSJ for the phony way they amortize the costs for marketing costs. I've personally thrown away at least 8 - 10 disks this year. Recent move to flat-rate pricing appears to be a last ditch attempt to compete with internet providers who are picking up defectors. A communications newsletter that I receive on my job says that AT&T and the RBOC's will be willing to take a loss on providing internet access to get the businesses on board (hence, undercutting AOL). These guys have deep pockets -- as do all regulated utlities. What do you think?
