Just because it is in the press does not mean it is going to work.
Since I am in a position to make sure that it does work, I have no such worries.
Your client server technology is under massive attack from MSFT. The key to the client server is to have the client as universally accepted, that is not the case presently.
This will change shortly, as the Mozilla effort will pass up Microsoft on the technology side, and more companies are bundling our browser, and DOJ pressure might help in that area. Besides, if you've been watching the browser wars recently, you'll notice that our browser share hasn't really dropped all that much over the last couple of quarters or so.
The server competes with a free server of equal quality and larger marketing budget that is free of charge on the most ubiquitous system in the market.
This is only true when looking at web servers on the Internet. And the server that has the biggest marketshare is not MSFT as you seem to be implying, but is Apache. When you look at intranets, our server products are being used more ubiquitously than either Microsoft or Apache.
Your E-commerce products are yet to be proven as a lasting profit center, therefore is in a nascent stage. From a technological standpoint, I don't see any reason why it won't work. As far as being profitable, I don't see why not. Given all of the benefits to the customer for using it, there should be plenty of ways to make it profitable.
The protal as an outscourcing solution is more of a concept at this stage than anything else. Unless the press is going to buy your products for you, their opinion means a lot less than cash flow.
Sounds like your argument is saying that you just don't want to take risks in your investments, rather than saying that NSCP is a bad investment in general. |
