james,

BB also said throughout the fall and winter that the chip-equipment group would not be hit by the Asian crisis because in order for chip companies to be competitive they had to buy the latest equipment.

Furthermore, I specifically remember BB saying that UTEK had little exposure to Asia so it should not be effected. Does anybody remember this? The following is an excerpt from Bob Brinker's Marketimer dated November 8, 1997. The newsletter is published out of Irvington, NY and is edited by Bob Brinker. It is also readily available at most public libraries. <---Free plug. <g>

...In the case of UTEK, approximately twenty percent of total business currently involves the countries of Southeast Asia and Japan. Approximately fifty percent of total business at UTEK is done in the United States and about thirty percent in Europe. We do not view the current problems in Southeast Asia as a major problem for Ultratech Stepper.

Best Regards.

Rillinois
