Projectavision to Launch Popular
Digital Projection Unit Into
International Markets; Digital Theater
Series 21 and SOLO 21 To Launch In
August

Business/Technology Editors

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 11,
1998--Projectavision, Inc. (NASDAQ: PJTV)
today announced plans to expand distribution of its
digital projection product into international
markets starting in August. The international
version, which will be sold under the name Digital
Theater Series 21, is the first 100 percent digital
projection system to combine a large front or rear
screen VGA or SVGA computer display, a 60 inch
rear projection television, and a removable front
projector that delivers quality images up to 260
inches and beyond in size.
Similar to the second-generation Digital Theater
Series II introduced at INFOCOMM for the U.S.
market, Digital Theater Series 21 is specially
designed to bridge the gap among broadcast
standards found throughout the world. It is
formatted for video broadcasting standards
including NTSC, Pal, and Secam, which will
allow businesses based overseas to enjoy the same
multimedia picture quality no matter what format is
required. In addition, the international unit features
dual voltage of 110/220 and 50/60 Hz with
automatic switching.
Through the use of Projectavision's proprietary
docking station design, it is easily converted from
rear projection to a front projector; making this the
most versatile display system on the market.
"We are proud to offer a superior quality
product to a growing global business market," said
Martin Holleran. "Instead of paying for different
equipment to handle several different video and
cable formats -- a frequent problem especially in
Europe -- businesses will find that Digital Theater
Series 21 fulfills all their presentation and
multimedia needs, in both front and rear
projection."
Projectavision said the Digital Theater Series
21 offers major enhancements over other
projection products including, a flicker-free
picture through utilization of Texas Instruments'
2-chip Digital Light Processing(tm) (DLP(tm))
technology. Businesses based overseas will be
able to present computer applications in both front
and rear projection mode, and no distortion or loss
of brightness when viewed from most angles. DLP
technology employs an advanced microchip that
allows both video and computer-generated images
to be reflected onto a screen with their full color
spectrum intact.
When used in computer mode, the projection
system delivers true 800 x 600 SVGA resolution
and a color palette of over 16.7 million colors,
ideal for many of the popular Windows 97,
Windows NT 4.01 and System 7.x presentation
applications. The rear projection screen is
designed to allow the audience to view the picture
from the side -- or almost any other angle --
without distortion or significant loss of brightness.
350 lumens typical of brightness provide crisp
clear pictures in most lighting situations.
In addition to the rear and front projection
system, the projector is also sold alone as a front
projector. The model is SOLO 21(tm) and is
available in ceiling white with an optional
matching ceiling bracket.
