To All:
Digital Equipment Corp.(DEC) announced during a session at DECUS (Digital Equipment Corp. Users Society) eariler this month that the 9-gig drives that they intend to sell for use in their Storage Works RAID Array, are having problems with the heads floating so close to the platter that they are crashing the media. Drive maker Quantum supplies these 9-gig drives as well as most other drives for DEC. Digital Equipment is demanding that Quantum deliver a reliable 9-gig drive ASAP to fill their customers demand. IMO, if Digital has a requirment to deliver small high capacity drives to their customers now, you can bet other computer makers will have the same demands placed on them as well. With this in mind, again IMO, I see no other option than KM.
