>>Sony is ramping up for their next monster loser after Godzilla; HiFD<<
Actually, Godzilla has already made $120 Million box office in the US alone, and just after 3 weeks of release. Add to this NBC's purchase of the movie rights for $25 Million last week, and in-movie promotional placements (ads) by Blockbuster and other big companies estimated at another $20 Million, and you get a movie that has made at least $165 Million so far, and is going to score a profit in the long run.
Add to this sales of the Sony soundtrack Godzilla CD, toy sales, licensing deals with Taco Bell, etc, and foreign box office (which should easily double US box office), Video sales and rentals, etc etc etc.
Sony is making money with this movie, no doubt about it. Proabably not as much as hoped, a la Paramount/Fox's Titanic (over $1.7 Billion worldwide so far), but they will make a big profit nonetheless.
HiFi is going to be yet another money-making Sony venture. 50% reduction in Zip retail sales within 3 months of HiFi release. Count on it. |
