To All,

Today I ordered a V-Gis decoder box. I attempted to go through the v-gis web site but ran into difficulty. I ended up calling Ingram to order a box over the phone. The were very apologetic and acknowledged that the website was in need of a "fix" (One of the people I spoke with actually worked on building the website). They anticipated having the problem resolved by Monday, 6/15. Since I am going out of town next week, I asked them to ship the box on July 1, so I should have it right after the 4th of July. I'll give you comments when I receive it.

Some other information to consider. Previously the website had shown two decoders boxes being available (a "basic" model and a more "full featured" model). But when I went to order, only the "basic" box was available. The rep I spoke with indicated that the company (I'm assuming Tri-Vision) had decided only to offer one model initially. Second, the boxes are not yet in stock. The expected shipping availability is 1-3 weeks. Third, I asked the rep about the v-gis product and what his impressions (if he had any) of other similar products were. He indicated that he had not used the v-gis product (or any other), but knew that management at Ingram felt the v-gis product was a very full featured product. He also added that Ingram management "insisted on an exclusive distribution agreement with Tri-Vision" (his words) becuase of being very impressed with the v-gis product.

Keep in mind that this was just one person, and this person wasn't a "management" person as near as I could tell. But if the "excitement" about the v-gis product has gotten down to that level in the organization, that may say something about Ingram's expectations.

Take it for what it is worth.
