I hesitate to enter the thread of this astute group with a Naive question?

If we are seeing a sea change then what are the possible consequences?
As I understand it:
_ Japan (a few civil servant graduates of Tokyo University Law faculty) almost created an "economical miracle" by clever use of along term plan to invest the peoples wealth for no short term profit with the hope of becoming a world dominating force....but missed the rink by oh so little because they could not adapt to a changing climate or had the rug pulled out from under?.
_ China is on the free enterprise migration path, with huge reserves of US$ and Gold along with some very smart younger leaders, a huge work force and sufficient societal control to stay a course?
_ US Economy is so synchronized with Asia that it can falter and because of a short term outlook skittishness and an obsession with the mundane (look at what the news media are covering while all this is happening ..first the OJ trial and now Clinton's sexual libido ) an easy nation to Panic...
_ is it possible that out of this turn of events will emerge a much stronger and confident China..leading Asia and a world power house sooner then most could have ever imagined.

I forewarned you it was perhaps naive.......So what do you think?
