Hal,

1. Did you know that desktop computers comprise only 2% of
the microcomputer market???

2. You don't program in Windows, Windows is not a language.
Java makes sense to program in because it is much
faster to write & debug code than in compiled languages.

3. Cross-platform makes more sense for 3rd party developers,
because it is easier to support & maintain.

4. Most PC-types haven't gotten past the desktop machine when
they think of computing devices. Information control
& dissemination is going to be much broader than that
in the very near future. Even MSFT realizes that.

5. MSFT-weenies have acquired a sour-grapes attitude toward Java,
since MSFT has lost in its attempt to steal the language.
Believe it or not, 100% pure Java also runs on Windows &
will act as an application platform for desktop machines
& workstations.

6. Java is owned by SUNW. It's an OPEN platform, unlike Windows,
so SUNW doesn't risk anti-trust suits & unlike Windows, the
quality of the apps. will be much higher, because of a
truly competitive marketplace.
