No move to ban Viagra in India
The Times of India
Saturday 13 June 1998

NEW DELHI: The Union government has no plans to ban Viagra
as of now.

The question of banning viagra does not arise since it has not
been registered in India, minister of state for health and family
welfare Dalit Ezhilmalai told K R Malkani during question hour in
the Rajya Sabha on Friday.

The minister said ''individual patients'' were allowed to import
such drugs against doctor's prescription. Any new potency drug
needed to be registered in India before it was marketed, he
added.(UNI)
