Not to tempt thee, Father!!! I am actually feeling sad rather than lovely, sensing loss rather than joy, and you know of what I speak.

Here is a lament, suitable in the depth of feeling, if not the details:

Lament for Balder
(A Yule Psalm)

Golden rays don't shine today,
for their fair king has gone away.
It seems the wind does wail
and the darkness is a mourners veil.
Tears from the sky do fall.
The silent sky has seen it all.
The blood soaked grass where he lay,
now the noon king has gone away.
And to think he was betrayed!
By his own subject slayed!
T'was the cruelest cut ever made
with the tricksters poison blade.
The trees turn in shame
for they remember the assassin's name.
As the world should ever know
the betrayal of the mistletoe
for its poison stem did slay
stealing the gold king far away.
But darkness ends and dawn will burn
And the sun king will return!
