One of the things that disturbs me about the religious right is that the true believers, the little guys, really think the honchos and charlatans and politicians who give lip service to conservative Christian values because they need votes, really believe the leaders are sincere.
It reminds me, in fact, of when Dan Quayle was in office, and was officially against abortion. When asked what would happen if his teenaged daughter got pregnant, it was a different story. His response indicated he and his wife and child would talk about it and solve the problem together, taking into consideration the daughter's opinion and the circumstances. A situational ethics type of response, if ever I heard one!!!
