Probably both. If you really want to run an FC LAN with full gig speed through a LAN - you will probably need a large fabric or single stage switch. As was previously pointed out - cascading causes a severe bottleneck in switch to switch connections. The only questions of course are - does this market exist and does Ancor's configuration perform as well as a hybrid configuration - such as the McData switch.

I believe that Ancor's technical staff has commented on the fact that some customers want smaller buffers for some applications. I believe they also commented on the software issue for LANs at the shareholder meeting - but that might be stretching the limits of my memory. I clearly recall the fact that the military LANs were class 1 and this might have something to do with it.
