Re: Banshee; Voodoo Rush; 3DFX share; V3

True, I didn't factor in Banshee which at this point is a tremendous unknown. The competition there is incredibly fierce however, so I don't expect any major inroads.

will there be enough of a perceived improvement so that someone who has a VooDoo2 will want to upgrade to a VooDoo3?

We're still fairly low on the growth curve of this technology. Although games like Unreal and Forsaken are impressive in their own right, there is still plenty of room for progress. Check out the samples on the Bitboys website. If Glaze can deliver framerate with image quality like that, I'll buy it. I do CGI rendering work (trueSpace, Lightwave, 3DS), and frankly I'm not yet satisfied with the polygon counts in today's leading edge games. Shiny Entertainment's Messiah engine with it's dynamically adjusting render may be an avenue of potential for high powered 3D gear.

Will there be a market for V3? Undoubtedly -- anybody who's considering an SLI setup today is definitely V3 material. Anybody who wants to run at a higher resolution than V2's current 800x600 limit is V3 material.

I expect the Banshee to be so good and so desirable that it ends up being built into lots and lots of PC's.

It will have to be very very inexpensive for that to happen.

God bless,
