Dan / Re: The Future

<< They are headed fo the big time.>>

Hi Dan -

Well, we can only hope! It's been quite a ride already, and the train has barely left the station.

A mistake many companies make is not adjusting the management to fit their requirements. Sometimes, this is due to the arrogance of the existing management. Sometimes, it's due to incompetence. In either case, it can be a fatal mistake, especially with companies which are relatively small, and don't have the capital to weather many problems. We can only hope that the changes at Ballard are in fact for the reasons they claim, and that suitable replacement(s) for Mr. Umedaly are found. Anyone beside me think that the new talent will come from one of Ballard's partners?

I've been thinking about the recently announced GM/Toyota FC development program.

Many folks probably perceive it as a serious threat, and it may well be. If you think about it, though, it's probably about the nicest compliment that anyone's ever paid to BLDPF.

First, it yet again affirms the perceived viability of using fuel cells for powering transportation.

Second, it demonstrates how difficult FC development must actually be; GM, long known for its rejection of things NIH ("Not Invented Here") has now officially thrown in the towel. The job is obviously too big/difficult/expensive to accomplish by themselves.

Have a nice weekend!

Steve
