Anyone reading this thread could easily ascertain the following:

1) NEC announced they'd won a 30M yen contract from HKT.

2) The contract includes VDSL systems (30K, 90K and 250K lines in '97, '98, '99 respectively).

3) NEC/Amati finalized VDSL partnership agreement less than a month ago.

4) No other VDSL companies have agreements with NEC.

5) Amati hinted at HK contract as early as August of this year.

6) HK is notoriously protective of any press released by companies involved with them.

7) Amati's top management (CEO, CTO, and VP) is out of the country.

8) VP of Marketing here in U.S. has not released any press regarding NEC announcement.

What are the chances NEC would use another VDSL company besides the one with which they're partnering?

Just curious -- :))
