re: arrogance and sarcasm

Why should I take 30 or 40 minutes of my limited free time to provide a detailed answer for your question (I have one) when you can't even ask me without sarcasm? I am unsure what motivates Walter High to give so generously of his time when he composes eloquent and thoughtful postings against the prevailing sentiment on this thread.

I see so much irony here. The only insider at AMZN who has done serious selling is their CFO. It is her extensive business education and high IQ which are hampering her ability to let go and abandon the message which fundamental analysis gives her about AMZN's valuation. Likewise, small investors who are obviously brilliant and well-educated (like Skeeter Bug and Bob Buschmann) are having difficulty accepting this as a concept stock.

What if AMZN allows book publishers to cry "Enough!" and start charging BKS and BGP for returned unsold books? And what if, in 5 years, 20% of books are sold on the net? Their land-based business models become NON-viable.

How much time have you spent studying the Kleiner Perkins keiretsu? Over 100 companies with interconnected ownerships. Would you agree that they are or will be the largest single force in control of the net?

Last year the readers of C-NET voted L. John Doerr as the 3rd most powerful person in the world. Most people have never heard of him, as he has kept a very low profile until recently. Take AMZN out of his network of companies and I will sell my shares and buy put options and join you.

AMZN has a half-billion dollar war chest. They are extremely well-connected. The investment community is obviously comfortable with accomodating the losses necessary to wage siege against competitors for the next few years. When competition dries up and AMZN owns an unassailable market share, they will gradually raise prices and become profitable. At that point, their competitors will be hemorrhaging so much that they will be glad to raise prices in concert with AMZN.

You think you can actually make money betting against AMZN and Kleiner Perkins? You have much greater tolerance for risk than I do. I think you should find some internet stocks which have to compete with Kleiner Perkins, and sell them short.
