His name will be translated into many languages as he promises to save people from every tribe, tongue and nationality. His name in all languages means YHWH is salvation. Meaning is much more important than words. I will continue to call him the name his mother called him, Yeshua.

My point in bringing up this story was to find out your views about it. I have read enough expert views and find the views of individuals much more interesting.

One point we both saw was Yeshua's inclusiveness. He spoke both of women (the widow) and gentiles (both) in his statement to the Jews. I agree that Christians must not use this as reason to mistreat Jews or any other group.

Another important aspect of this story for me is Yeshua's use of a Messianic prophesy from the book of Isaiah. The reading of this scripture was a fulfillment of prophecy. The reading from the Old Testament is prescribed and read in all synagogues on the same day. This is why they handed him the book. In proclaiming that the scripture had been fulfilled, he was claiming to be the promised Messiah. This must have confused people who had seen him growing up and playing with their children.

It is also interesting to look at Isaiah to see where the Lord stopped his reading. The next line is (Is 61:2) And the day of vengeance of our God; He stopped because that day has not yet come but it is also an important part of the role he was claiming for himself. That day will also come, bringing with it the justice of God's judgement.
