(San Francisco) - AP - Dennis McNally, publicist for the Grateful Dead,
reported today that Ginger Spice, whose real name is Geri Halliwell,
is the new guitarist for the Other Ones. "She has the
same first name as the late Mr. Garcia so the guys thought she
could probably play guitar just as well", McNally said. The
members of the band will also be changing their names. Bob Weir
will become Ace Spice, Phil Lesh -Classical Spice, Mickey Hart -
Vulcan Spice, and Bruce Hornsby (in a nod to his Chesapeake Bay
roots) will be Old Bay Spice. When asked what the fans can
expect to hear on the tour, McNally replied "A mix of old
favorites such as Truckin' and Alligator along with Spice Girls'
hits like Wannabe and 2 Become 1. The band thought that this
would really improve their draw among girls 7 to 14 and sell
some more tickets. They'll also rework some old tunes, becoming
Touch of Spice, Dark Spice, Estimated Spice, and Spice in a
Bucket and the instrumental, improvisational jam in the middle
of the show will now be known as Drums>Spice. Also, we will be
selling a wonderful blend of seasonings on this tour called
Uncle John's Spice." :^)
