About Holland and Belgium: I'll give Belgium the award for figuring how to use their hands in a soccer game - who said the goalkeeper could only use his hands? The defense excelled at using their hands to grab the Dutch shirts... And besides that was good at frustrating the Dutch who then elbows #3 on Belgium in the chest and the guy goes down clutching his face like he has been smashed in the face... An Oscar award to #3 on Belgium... (though the Dutch player should not have used his elbow...) On the game: the Dutch were clearly the superior team. A good example of this was when they were down to 10 men - they still outplayed the 11 Belgians by far! I think the weakness for Holland was the lack of penetration by the right winger (#10) - he could not seem to beat his defender, he did not put on the bursts of speed you expect of wingers and did not take on his man with any conviction - not many good crosses came in from the right - he looked tired. the other winger was exceptional - Dutch #14... after #10 was subbed, #14 went to the right wing and then notice the advances that were coming from the right... the Dutch were much more skillful... for instance they won every ball in the air... they as a team anticipated the Belgian passes better than many other teams that I have seen in a long time... and were much faster than the Belgians... Best players of the game: Dutch #14 and the Dutch captain... Belgium was lucky - 2 or 3 goal-line chances were diverted by on the line saves + 1 clear miss of an open net by a Dutch forward in the first half... shane.
