Daniel,

Not sure I'm following you here. Are you referring to end users or carriers/ITSPs, since you include the Feature Group D class of facilities in your post?

You say:

>>Anyone who connects to the local switch by means other than a feature group D connection and does a lot of ordinary IP data will probably get away with it based on size.<<

I take it you mean small ITSPs who are too small, since they don't justify a FGD? That being the case, then how do they handle SS7 features? Or do you propose that SS7 is a non-issue in this context, as many have offered in these threads? Just asking...

>> The high visibility companies will surely get hit. (i.e. ITXC et all) <<

I see ITXC posturing itself as a kind of consortium director, or administrator of a clearinghouse, and not necessarily an end organization in itself. They will also offer wholesale services. As such, they are probably negotiating group-level or volume discount arrangements with their suppliers in order to realize the necessary offsets against future tariffs, access charges and surcharges, that will enable them to resell these services.

Are we in synch or did I miss the intent of your post entirely?

And since you brought it up, will it be you? Or shall I? be the one to enlighten as to the meaning of Feature Groups, for the benefit of the greater readership here? Please do...

Regards, Frank Coluccio
