Dear Victor - thx for the elucidation [on both BAY and CPQ.] Since I m not keen on CPQ, I shall leave it to experts like yourself. Regarding BAY, we may have to settle for an "argree to disagree" handshake <g>. Admittedly, I am not much of a detail person [probably to my great disadvantage;] however, I ve been warning people from being over-optimistic since the summer of 97. Now, I'd like to warn people for overly negative. Of course, people are entitled to their observations, especially they are responsible for their investments.
Admittedly, the projection of BAY # in the past Q is way off. However, I don't think BAY has misled anyone - at least not intentionally. I don't know if the 2-more-weeks comment was made by Mr House, for somehow my memory has suggested that it was made by one of the analysts [maybe H&Q's.] Nonetheless, if BAY had known she wouldn't have made it, she could have been construed as less than forecoming by not contradicting the analyst. But then, in the situation then and there, probably it would ve been counterproductive to engage in a would-a, could-a pigeonhole scenario analysis.
Anyway, I think you ve brought up many good points. For example, in the prior Q cc, BAY mgt has commented that she was heading into the 3rd Q which was traditionally a weak Q but she would like to break the tradition this time. Some people might think it was a promise while others simple ignored that as a wishlist item. I mean, it really depends on one's mindset when one hears the words "shoot the eleplant."
