"Should IBM select another vendor, this is by no means a death knell for Ancor as the potential worldwide Fibre Channel Adapter market is huge! As a public company Ancor is constrained from bragging about their stellar technology and instead must release to the public only material facts"

Tom,

I have a different angle on the IBM issue. At this point in time Ancor essentially sells switches. We have heard about the need to specialize due to a high tech marketing focus and limited resources. They are at a significant competitive disadvantage compared with companies that offer end - to - end FC solutions. If IBM endorses, the McData solution - and by default the Brocade ASIC this is a potentially huge problem for Ancor. Stellar technology has been stopped in its tracks by an IBM endorsement in the past. The two most obvious examples that I see referenced in computer literature are the initial PC chip solution and OS.

As I see it, Ancor longs like myself are betting that the multistage approach to switching will prevail, and that Ancor has some undisclosed technology up their sleeve. It is not the strongest hand in the game at this point.
