Quite likely to see a $299 PC for Xmas.

When foreign dollars fall, and prices of domestic products go up governments usually levy tariffs. A $299 multimedia PC will put a real squeeze on the US manufactures. HMM.

However, potential seems to be here already! A marketable $401 PC can be easily built. ADM K6 300 CPU $128, 32 meg 60ns EDO Ram $21, Case $17, MB $39, 1 Gig HD $88, 14" Monitor $78, Mouse and KB $30. Price quotes from www.pricewatch.com

Did I miss a component?
