Hi Bruce,
Since I'm still up, I think Tom is talking about Metricom Ricochet system or something similar to it, where they have 28.8 speeds in the Seattle and S.F. areas. Of course you have to buy one of their modems packages with a subscription. It has a clip-on antenna for your laptop. I think they've made a deal to place repeater antennas on some of our poles so they can have coverage of the S.F. area. I don't think they are done in San Jose yet, but I'm pretty sure they started installation there.
Ricochet is supposed to be able to almost match ISDN speed by next year, but I wouldn't bet on it because they are having some glitches. Here is the thread:

As I understand it, the system only allows a certain number of users to make and send data requests at one time and the others a sequenced in a waiting pattern when traffic gets heavy. If they ever get the kinks out, theoritically Xybernaut and Sony will probably incorporate this into their next generation wearable computers. Sony has already licensed the name "WebMan". Time to get back to work.

Scott

By the way Hello all you A.I.M.er's, especially Tomasso!

P.S. Anyone try Dataminers A.I.M. program or Excel spreadsheet yet? I've been too busy to look into it further.
