Yup, I think you got it right, World Cup is first right now... You are in Bellevue? This good friend of mine I keep referring to in my posts (from whom I get a lot of my insight and very well grouded info) has opened a restaurant in Seattle called the Blowfish Asian Cafe. His son manages it and apparently it is doing quite well. Drop in I hear they have some pretty reasonably priced food and say hi to Takao Kikuchi for me. I am in Miyazaki Prefecture , Miyazaki City, Southern Kyushu. It is a small provincial city, somewhat removed from the hustle bustle of the Big Umeboshi. On the local news the price of green peppers is more likely to be the first headline (lots of acreage under greenhouse around here). >>d sitting in a classroom and watching the students just take notes and NO ONE asked any question. .."You never question the sensai" ?? I learned this was the norm!!! This is the same with the political system. You realize it is very corrupt but can complain. I always bothered me and now more than ever. <<< Has not changed a bit, they (the students) have to be in groups with a formal leader to get some questions going... All in all though (i was just out running some errands) there is no way you could tell there is a recession here using Eastern Canada standards... As my friend was saying last night, Japanese companies are strapped for cash, consumers are not. They just take the wait and see attitude right now . Still trying to figure out what it is all about... sg
