"I do not see McData has any advantage in providing an 'end - to -end' FC solution."

KJ,

As far as I can tell from looking at their product offerings:

mcdata.com

The only thing they don't advertise is adapters. They are also offering the "Fabric Pak" - which seems like a standard installation and maintenance plan. They have switches which can be used for fabrics and on the less obvious side - they have statistics. The odds they are playing is that the need for limited FC switching (32 ports) greatly exceeds the need for larger fabrics. It is the same argument Seagate makes for using hubs rather than switches.

If they don't have and end - to - end solution they certainly give the appearance of having one.
