You're right Daniel, I can't ever recall you posting negative emotions toward Microsoft. I knew that they I was writing my last post, but I need to undeniably use the word "hate" for more impact. I'm sorry about that, but you understand, right?
Let me make it clear to you, that I am not blinded by my infatuation with MSFT. I think NSCP has some really great things going, and I own both NSCP stock and options.
I do, however, think, "may the best man [company] win," using whatever business tactics are neccessary to do so. With that, I do not feel sorry for all the companies that are going to get (or have gotten) stepped-on by MSFT, ORCL, SUNW, and soon--believe it or not, Bill--Netscape. That just business, and that's just too bad.
As a shareholder of all concerned 'net parties--MSFT, NSCP, SUNW, and ORCL--I can say that I would not be a shareholder of any company that wasn't ruthless in dealing with potential threats. That is the key point where many of us differ. I admire a successful, dominating company, while others (and I won't mention William Harmond's name) have the mentalily that they don't want to own any "mean" companies. To each his own....personally, I am buying businesses, not charity organizations. Would anyone want to own stock in the Salvation Army? Peace Corps? The United Way?

P.S. Some of the other "competition killa'" stocks I own are NKE (poor little Reebok), Intel (too bad, AMD and CYRX), CSCO (look out, networkers, your days are numbered--especially you, BAY), TLAB (DIGI blows), and USRX (Hayes near bankruptcy? ZOOM losing money?). |
