[ti/siemens and dt/ala etc]

hi eric

>>If I may I would like to add #5 to your list (siemens adsl).

5 TXN/Amati produce their own product. Here I am in the dark. I have no feeling whether this is a possibility or not. A hint might be available if Vancouver/BC continues to install the Amati products in bulk. <<

as no doubt you've noticed... looks like it is #5 for silicon (at least)... siemens is going with ti's silicon for adsl..

"...In the meantime, DSP specialists with existing full-rate ADSL chip sets are raking in orders. TI, for one, has scored contracts from Siemens A.G. and Diamond Multimedia for an ADSL chip set designed with subsidiary Amati Communications Inc...."

>>I hope people don't get their hopes up too high regarding DT and Orkit ADSL modems.

On Saturday at about 2-3 in the afternoon DT had run a TV commercial touting their new services. (station SAT3 for you Germans).

They had a 15 second blurb about their new ADSL services. They showed a black ADSL modem from the top and then from the back to show the different plug-in possibilities. It was an Alcatel 1000 modem....<<

agree... just because orctf was showing with dt at cebit.. a win it is not... apparently the tender is out now... or if a decision has been reached it is very recent... no announcement that i am aware of... believe it would be a big deal if orctf were to win, but it is hardly a done deal... and would you expect siemens to be in the running?

thanks for the news,
s
