OK mike let us go through the exercise. MU is 20 years old (Founded in 1978), INTC is twice as old (Founded in 1958 maybe 1959, in 1959 they sold their first planar transistor).

Then let us look at the numbers. INTC has raised about $5 Billion bucks from the public in its history and has retained 16 billions (a factor of 3.2) in earnings and this over 40 years. MU has raised $573 Million and retained $2.9 billions in earnings (a factor of 5.06) and this in only 20 years. I would say MU wins hand down on actual performance, and they do not even have a monopoly. INTC faced with the same situation of competitive pressures simply run to another field, let see what MU is going to do, they are still quite a young company, IMHO. Buying MU in the next through might prove as good a buy as INTC was in August of 1982 (four years after MU's founding).
