I knew there would be typing. Oh well. Two fingered and inarticulate as I am, here goes:

None of this current fluctuation is important unless you trade sort term. Long term it doesn't matter whether you buy NN or NTL or BAY or CSCO or whoever. The key is buying into a piece of the technology and a company that will continue to develop over the next 5 years. You might get bought out, you might buy the new market leader. It doesn't matter. Just be here. The now developing Internet/telecom/cable/satellite convergence is simply bigger than anything we have known in the last 50 years. It will pervade all aspects of our futures. Trying to guess whether AOL or Excite or Yahoo will be the big content winners is fun, but don't let it blind you to the fact that the infrastructure providers will make money. It will all grow! Even the losers will be bought out for their customer lists. Buy some of it as carefully as you can now and you will probably still be ahead of the pack, (the pack being the World, not North America). You can have a great deal of fun guessing the content winners, some of them will become huge, but never forget that the providers of infrastructure, like the early providers of roads, railroads, electricity, oil and telephones, will just also win.

Yes, I own Newbridge shares. I also own other shares in other telecom/cable cos. that are also going to do well. By the Fall, we'll all be wondering about satellites. All will be interesting plays.

This sector isn't an exercise where we have to pick one winner.

Enough typing.
