: - New TI RF Device Minimizes Power Requirements and Costs in Mobile Phones with North American Footprint DALLAS (June 8, 1998) -- A highly integrated RF component targeting dual-band, dual-mode applications that will enable wireless original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to create more affordable, longer-operating mobile phones able to function seamlessly throughout North America was announced today by Texas Instruments. The enhanced operational characteristics of the RF modulator/synthesizer provides OEMs with the design flexibility they need to increase system power efficiency for longer talk and standby times, as well as keeping overall system space, weight and cost to a minimum.

Networking (ATM/LAN/WAN): ------------------------- Texas Instruments Announces Customer Relationship with Siemens Telecom Networks DALLAS (June 9, 1998) -- Texas Instruments (TI) (NYSE:TXN) announced today that Siemens Telecom Networks will use the TNETD2000 ADSL chipset in its new line of Access Networks equipment. The XpressLink system, which operates as a digital subscriber line access multiplier (DSLAM), will take advantage of the chipset's fully-programmable feature, allowing software upgradability in the field to accommodate new standards, technology advances, and interoperability. Although the initial XpressLink product will be DMT-based, T1.413 issue 2 compliant, software downloads for G.lite and G.dmt will be available once standards have been finalized.
