<<Packard Bell NEC Inc.'s rate plunged to 33% from 46%. Analysts said Packard Bell suffered from lingering consumer perceptions that its quality and service lags behind the competition.>>

While all of these analysts are touting the under $1,000 PC, when the consumers actually get them and use them, I bet they won't want to buy another one. After all you get what you pay for. How much quality and service are you going to get for $599? If people don't like Packard Bell now, you know they aren't going to like cheap PCs. Intel has a strong brand name. Doesn't matter how much analysts say people only care about price, and people are willing to accept an AMD or Cyrix processor (even if they have better specs than Intel), when buying decisions are made, people will be looking for the Intel inside sticker still.
