Huh? I read this as the obvious: Microsoft, for the 50th time, sees a deficiency in Windows, the most popular base software on the planet, and wants to address it. This has nothing to do with openness and everything to do with how Java (and NC's) are being marketed.

We agree that TCO is the overriding issue and will address that aggressively. We want to GROW this market, more devices running Windows means more opportunity for ISV's. Java has its place in that equation, but does not dominate it.
