Globe says Busang spectre overhangs Walsh funeral

Bre-X Minerals Ltd BXMShares issued 2191033301997-05-07 close $0.09Monday Jun 15 1998The Globe and Mail reports in its Monday, June 15, 1998 edition that Bre-X Minerals founder David Walsh was remembered by about 200 people at a memorial service at Saint Matthias' Anglican Church in Montreal's upscale Westmount district a few blocks from where he grew up, for a short time Saturday, not as the man involved in the biggest fraud ever in mining history, but as a friend, a husband and a father. The Globe's Paul Waldie writes that as mourners listened, five private security guards in dark suits hovered at the back and sides of the church periodically talking to microphones hidden in their sleeves. Outside, two police cars stood ready in case an angry mob of burned Bre-X investors showed up. The security wasn't necessary. During the service, Rev. William Blizzard said Mr. Walsh was a "complex man, who lived life to the fullest." (c) Copyright 1998 Canjex Publishing Ltd. canada-stockwatch.com
