jhild,

First I will answer your question, and then I will make some comments.

In the United States, when a corporation is formed, there must be a name check made with the Corporation Commission OF THAT STATE!!!! If no other company is using that name IN THAT STATE....then the name is allowed. Therefore, I think it would probably be advisable for Mountain Energy of Nevada to not try and explore for coal or gas in the state of Vermont.

So go ahead, send your letter to the Mountain Energy, Inc. of Vermont. See if Mountain Energy, Inc. of Nevada cares.

Now then....a comment.....I bookmark some people, and every once in a while, I go read what they have to say on other threads. Although I own no stock in Sanguine, I came across a rather interesting conversation there between Dixie7777 and Mr. Forthright. It concerned the use of the English language. Are you perhaps familiar with it?

For those who are not aware of this exchange, it concerned the spelling of the word "honor". Dixie picked up on the fact that Mr. F spelled this word as "honour."

Now until I saw this, I had thought that Dixie was just giving Mr. F a hard time to pay him back for the hard times he has given us.

HOWEVER, now I've changed my mind. Nobody raised and educated in America is going to spell the word "honor" as "honour." Sorry, it just ain't going to happen. No way. <AM I RIGHT, GUYS?>

Now then, there are many Canadians on these boards. For example, bbruin and Jim C. are Canadians....and they are proud of it! And well they should be! Canada is a beautiful country, with a great heritage! For the most part, I have noticed that the Canadians on these boards bond with each other....much as an American would if we met a fellow countryman on a mostly Canadian board.

But although the spelling of "honour" does not prove Mr. F to be a Canadian, it does, in my eyes, prove he is not American. So why in his posts is there no reference to him being from a different country?
Usually, non-Americans on here bond with each other.

Which brings me now to you...and Janice. You both show a curious lack of knowledge on how American corporations operate. Janice was not familiar with annual reports. You are not familiar with each state's individual rights.

Now then, one thing I learned while being in England, was that my English friends were fascinated by how each state can have different laws. In Great Britain...the laws are universal in each country of the Great Britain....at least that's what I was told.

I'm not familiar with Canada....but perhaps someone who is can answer this next question....are the laws in Canada universal to each province, or can each province have it's own "individual rights."

If so, is that perhaps why you are not familiar with how each state is different? How Mountain Energy, Inc. incorporated in Nevada, can have the same name as Mountain Energy, Inc. incorporated in Vermont...because Mountain Energy, Inc. of Nevada does not do business in Vermont. Nor does the one in Vermont do business in Nevada, or Texas, or West Virginia.

Just wondering..........

Juanita
P.S. Please don't take this as bashing.....these are genuine questions and concerns that I have. But alas, I will be gone for the rest of the day until about 6 PM and will have to wait until I return to read your answer.
