OT on the ethnic stuff again.

My meaning was just that it seems to be a trait of most groups to internally make fun of themselves. Just a question of degree.

I do not mean to say the Irish, for example, are walking around calling each other disingenuous terms like "Mick". I like to think we have more imagination than that.
