With Bay taken out, I don't see any obvious alternatives for LU. You mentioned ASND and NN, but they are not at all similar to Bay. LU has for a long time re-sold Bay products to fill holes in it's product line. If NT steals Bay, it needs to re-plug those holes.

Since NN and ASND (for the most part) don't sell the same type of products as Bay, I don't see how they would help much. I think Cabletron is a much more similar type of co. And of course Cisco.<g>
And I've heard Xylan mentioned but I don't know much about them.

I think NT has forced LU's hand. LU is going to have to start a bidding war for Bay, unless they can come to some sort of agreement with Cisco.

And re: Cisco...they need a telecom partner don't they? Maybe this Nortel move is going to force LU and CSCO into each other's arms...

This sure is going to be an interesting summer...
