Andrew,

LU's biggest hole is in an edge ATM solution to provide frame relay and other inter-working services. NT already had the Passport. Therefore, ASND and NN become likely candidates. Since LU bought Livingston for RAC, an ASND buy would have some over-lap. LU is developping their own Gigabit Switch Router and will ship it in Q1 99.

Do they need a lan ethernet switching play ? Market is already saturated and margins are very low, making CS less attractive.

Remember, LU is a carrier provider first and foremost.

As far as an LU/CSCO marriage, I just can't see it. These are 2 very different companies with similiar market caps. And CSCO just announced a poison pill against hostile take-overs last week.

But I think we all agree it's going to be a very interesting year...

Cheers,

Peppe
