Fortunately for Muffy, the street lights illuminated the dark streets. Otherwise, she might have tripped on the briefcase that was in the gutter in front of her apartment. She wondered why it hadn't been discovered the night before when the policemen were there during the motorcycle incident.

She stooped over to pick it up. Interestingly enough, it was one of those briefcases designed specifically to carry laptop PC's. Excitedly, she carried it back to her apartment, stopping only briefly to allow Shorty to perform his natural biological functions. She ignored the yelling from the upper floor apartment from that lady who spends all her time calling the police to complain about the dog doo problem outside her apartment.

Upon entering her apartment, she undid the ribbon that was supporting Shorty's stump. Bump! went Shorty as he fell to the floor. Muffy paid no attention to him. She was more interested in the secrets to be discovered within the briefcase.

But, oh no ... the briefcase had a combination lock on it!
